With regular watering, a zoysia lawn is very sturdy and healthy. It is not prone to disease or damage by pests.
Cons
It grows slowly (it takes two to three years for a lawn plugged with Zoysia to fill in.) This can be avoided by using a solid sod installation.
Zoysia grass cannot be hydroseeded.
Zoysia grass turf is wiry and possibly uncomfortable under foot.
Zoysia lawns will go brown (dormant) in the winter and will remain that way until 70+ temps return in late spring.
Zoysia grass will not green up if planted in shade. It is a very poor choice for shady areas.
